Places To Visit Christ the Redeemer is an art decoration statue of Jesus Christ located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, made by French sculptor Paul Landowski and constructed by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, alongwith with French engineer Albert Caquot. Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida did fashioning of the face. Constructed between 1922 and 1931, the statue is 30 metres tall, that does not include its 8-metre pedestal. The arms extend 28 metres wide.
The statue is 635 metric tons, and situated at the peak of the 700-metre Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park from where you can see the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is constructed of reinforced concrete as well as soapstone.
